Playroom Projects: DIY Alphabet Chalkboard

Over the past couple months we’ve been changing our spare room into a playroom.

It has provided the best distraction for a certain little somebody while I’m trying to do laundry or basically anything that requires being upstairs. Not to mention sometimes kids just need a change of location and they are all smiles again! … or at least that is how it is with my little one.

My goal was to use items and decor we already had around the house or in storage to transform on empty room into a fun, welcoming playroom.

I thought I would share a couple of easy DIY projects that I did to create a playroom on a budget.

A playroom needs some fun colorful things on the walls, so I did a bit of digging around in my craft boxes and came up with an old chalkboard and alphabet stickers.

This is as simple as it gets.

I picked the stickers I liked and put the alphabet on the board… with a bit of help :).

Turns out it’s a good idea to also have a glue gun to actually glue the letters down at the end, since I did so much rearranging of the letters that they lost their ‘stickyness’.

Pretty much the easiest DIY there is! And it turned out super cute!

Exactly what a playroom needs.

Newborn Photos

I can’t believe sweet Baby S is already 10 months!! How did that happen?! Time sure flies with a baby; I feel like I’ve blinked and we are almost at a year!

I’ve been doing a bit of ‘first birthday party’ brainstorming over here and that got me a bit nostalgic, so I ended up scrolling through some of her newborn photos.

Gaaahhh she was the cutest little newborn :). So I thought I would share just a few pictures.

She had (and still has, just a bit longer and blonder) the sweetest fluffy hair with a little swirl on the back of her head. The cutest!!

A bit of baby spam to make your Monday a bit brighter!

A Wedding Weekend

Happy Saturday!!

May has been insanely busy, I’m pretty sure that this next weekend will be the first weekend in over a month and a half that I will have nothing booked. Normally my weekends are pretty relaxed, so its been crazy!

All the busyness has made May fly right by! I can’t believe we are almost at June. No complaints here. Bring on the sun and warm weather!!

Part of the busyness was from a wedding that I was in this past weekend. So, I thought I would share some pictures from the weekend :).

My lovely friend, the bride, added so manyΒ  creative, beautiful touches and went with a book theme, from the table decorations to the seating plan and everything in between. I wish I took more pictures!! But here are the few I did manage to capture.

The hall was stunning, and on each table were book pages, sparkly vases, and handmade flowers made out of book pages. Like I said, so creative πŸ™‚

On the day of the wedding the bride and the four of us bridesmaids spent the morning getting our hair done, doing our makeup, and chatting πŸ™‚ We each picked our own dresses, trying to go with the same maroon color and the different shades ended up working great together.

The whole day was perfect. The bride was beautiful, the ceremony went on without a hitch, we managed to avoid any major rain for the pictures, and the night ended with the reception, which included a yummy meal, cupcakes, and dancing.

And of course my favorite part was having the best wedding date there is:)

Wednesday’s Workout: March Fitness Challenge

Hello March!

I’m ready for spring… but where I am, spring usually doesn’t happen till May or June… but I’m not complaining because this winter has been the mildest winter ever!! There were even been days that felt like springΒ  in February. So you never know… spring might come early this year. Here’s hoping!

I think the start of a new month deserves a fitness challenge. This one is for your legs!

Each day of the month (except Sundays, you get those off) there is a challenge to give your legs some extra love. There are 6 different exercise and with each exercise the repetitions increase as the weeks go on.

March Workout Calendar

Here are your 6 moves for the month: Jump Squats, Reverse Lunges, Sumo Squats, Narrow Squats, Curtsy Lunges, and Walking Lunges.

Good Luck! And Happy Wednesday πŸ™‚

Friday Favorites: Beauty Essentials

Friday Favorites_ Beauty Essentials

What’s in your makeup bag?!

This ‘Friday’s Favorites’ I am sharing what’s in mine!

Over the years I’ve tried and tested so so so many different hair and makeup products.

Some are great, and some… well, not so great.

Here are some of my go-to items when it comes to getting ready in the morning, ones that I LOVE and use basically every day.

image

First things first. Hair. This is where I have probably tried the most products. And now I’ve settled on Dove hairspray and Batiste dry Shampoo.

image

I have been using this Dove Hairspray for quite a while, why switch when you find one that works! But I just came across this Batiste Dry Shampoo about 6 months ago when I was testing out a few different brands to find one I like. And this one is a winner! It gives the prefect amount of volume, and I find it also helps my hair-do stay throughout the day.

After one try of this stuff, I was hooked.

Eventually, I used up my first can of this dry shampoo, and went back to the store for more but couldn’t find it anywhere! One of the employees told me they were discontinuing it. WHAT?!? Nooooooo. Just when I found one that I really liked! …Turns out that was totally not true… which I didn’t find out until after buying basically a lifetime supply of the stuff when I found it at another store…. oh well, I’ll use it up, believe me!

imageEyes.

I have been using this False Lashes MAC mascara since my wedding, about 2 years ago. Originally I was supposed to have my makeup done by a makeup artist for my wedding, but after the trial, and the girl using red eye shadow on me because it would make my ‘eyes pop’ (no thank you), I went out to the MAC store and picked out a few different items to do my makeup myself. One of those items was this mascara. Ever since then I have stuck with it; I find that it stays really well throughout the day, looks more natural and isn’t clumpy.

My go-to for eyeliner is this Revlon Eye Pen. My skin tends to be on the oily side, and so I find that most other eye liners eventually rub off throughout the day …or they are just really hard to put on in the first place. This ‘marker’ type of eyeliner is really easy to get that perfect line, and this stuff stays where its supposed to on all day.

Nails.

My husband was shocked when he saw my nail polish collection πŸ™‚ Ha-ha, a girl needs every color in the rainbow right?! Recently I’ve been using Joe nail polish, 1) the price is 3 for $10, you can’t go wrong with that! 2) they have basically every color you could ever want, 3) I find it fades off rather than chips, so it lasts a bit longer on my nails.

There you have it, these are some of my favorite products for hair, eyes, and nails!

Happy Friday!
