Ringing in the New Year

imageHello 2016!

Well, our holiday celebrations have continued! We spent New Years Eve and New Years Day with my side of the family.

It was a combination of celebrating New Years and Christmas, so there was still Christmas music, stockings, and all the classic Christmas eats and treat!!

Here are some of the highlights πŸ™‚

Of course first off is time with family!!

There as also lots of having fun and playing with all the new toys my nephew got… I think the adults has just as much fun as my nephew!

And tons of yummy food πŸ™‚ image

This Christmas was not without excitement!!

You can’t celebrate the holidays without a nice roaring fire. Well… the handle to open flue was pulled out just a bit too much and the flue disconnect and shut… now the problem was the the fire was already going!!!

But men to the rescue!! My husband, dad, uncle, and brother-in-law put out the fire and even fixed the broken flue!! No harm done!

Well, 2016 is already turning out to be a fantastic year πŸ™‚

Happy New Year!

Christmas at the Farm

imageHome again!

The first half of our Christmas celebrations have passed. So sad!!

Our road trip to visit family began on December 24th, and we arrived back home last night.

The days in-between were packed with family, friends, fun and games, cute little nieces and nephews, lots of sweet treats, 3 turkey dinners and so much more!

There is something so peaceful and quiet about getting out of the city. The open fields and big skys are so beautiful! And despite it being a bit chilly we did manage to fit a walk in to enjoy it πŸ™‚

My sister-in-law’s cute little family just got settled into a new home this past fall, so it was so fun to spend time at their new place, chat and catch up, play with the kids, and make some more memories!

Well, that is just a small snip-it of our time away!Β  I can’t believe how quickly the holidays are flying by!image

Christmas Part 2 with my side of the family starts on the 31st!

We’ll be using these days leading to digest all that good food from our trip:) and get ready for more holiday fun!

Winter Family Photo Shoot

Are weekends the best or what?!

Yesterday my family braved the cold to get some nice family pictures!!

It looked so beautiful with the little bit of frost and snow and the covering of fog… and you can’t even tell we’re cold πŸ™‚

I think we are all super happy to have my sister, brother-in-law, and nephew back in town!!!!

Such a cute little family!!

And these love birds!!

Photo credit goes to my sister!! And she even kindly braved the cold to take a few more pictures of Mark and I πŸ™‚

I’ll be sharing more photos later!!

Happy Sunday!!

Happy Thanksgiving

sweetnsimpleblogHope all you other Canadians out there are having a very Happy Thanksgiving!!

My family had our Thanksgiving celebration yesterday, that way we get an extra day of rest to digest all that yummy food before heading back to work πŸ™‚

This year we started off our Thanksgiving celebration with a looong walk so we were extra hungry when it was time for the feast!

We all had our fair share of turkey, mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes, and of course we got some veggies in too!!!

Here is a sneak peek into our Thanksgiving celebrations!

This sweet potatoe casserole is probably one of my favorites! It is basically like dessert but you can get away with eating it for dinner πŸ™‚

And to finish the meal off, apple crisp!!! The apples, buttery topping and that touch of cinnamon made it the perfect autumn desert, and perfect way to end off our Thanksgiving meal. YUM!!!

I’m a little sad that Thanksgiving is over… is it ok to start preparing/celebrating Christmas yet??
